Soapwalla Concentrated Repair Balm: Intense Hydration for Face & Body
When I first caught a glimpse of Soapwalla’s cult moisturizer “The Balm,” it reminded me of aloe gel. It looked lovely, hydrating, and light—but I guessed it would function more like a serum, a soothing layer to apply before a heavier moisturizer. This turned out not to be the case.
The Balm is not like a water-based gel at all. Rather, it has more of a vaseline texture, and a little goes a long way. (No follow-up moisturizer required!) I daresay it’s even more moisturizing than your average facial oil, making it ideal for special situations. Sunburn? Soothe with The Balm. Went a little overboard with your retinol? Take the edge off with The Balm.
Oils of moringa and prickly pear help calm, condition, and hydrate skin while arnica soothes swelling and minimizes the appearance of bruising. For an added bonus, horse chestnut helps support circulation—making The Balm a great choice for varicose veins and feet—or anywhere that would benefit from improved circulation. Finally, blue tansy, frankincense, and St. John’s Wort soften skin while providing a lovely natural scent.
The ritual: While there are clearly several ways to treat your skin with The Balm, my favorite is to use it as a deep-conditioning facial mask. After washing and exfoliating my face, I’ll treat it with a vitamin C serum and then massage The Balm into my skin. There’s no need to rinse it off—The Balm will melt into skin.
